Edward J. Rugman is a highly experienced and sought after, versatile musician. He was appointed the youngest salaried church organist and director of music in the country at the age of eleven and he developed a love of sacred organ and choral music as a result. This led him to sing, play and conduct in many cathedrals across the UK as well as some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Notre Dame Paris and Prague Cathedral. Edward went on to study music at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester to Master’s level and as prize-winner, was awarded organ scholarships at Manchester Parish Church and Blackburn Cathedral.

Edward is also a successful composer and arranger. His work includes documentary music for the BBC (Salford Media City) and is regularly commissioned to compose for orchestral, educational, theatre and arts projects. Recent work includes ‘Space Armada Suite’ for orchestra, music for the Dublin Tourist Board, and he is currently collaborating with the writers of a new musical.

Edward is an avid fan of musical theatre and has worked as a musical director for many years. Most recently he conducted the northern premier of Aspects of Love. He is also a creative director for the new up and coming theatre company ‘Rapture House’.

Edward is a supporter of many charities and recently conducted a ‘Last night of the Proms’ concert at Preston Minster in aid of The Rosemere Cancer Foundation and has played at functions for The Princes Trust, The Christie NHS Trust and The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
